Even though I have 2 Bernina embroidery machines, I am considering purchasing Husqvarna Viking's TruEmbroidery 3 program recently released for macs. If Bernina actually has plans to come out with their own mac compatible version, then I am willing to wait a short time for that. Please advise! Bernina ArtLink 7 Embroidery Software for Windows. I've been using the bernina software that came with my unit that runs on windows xp. I only do the occasional name embroidery so it's been sufficient. The last time I tried to use it I was unsuccessful so I'm looking for an upgrade and wondering what the options are. And is there anything that runs on iOS so I can get rid of this old XP machine? Thank you so much!!

If you don't do much with the design besides 'send to machine' just download ARTlink 7 or 8 from the Bernina web site.. it is free, a bare bones emb platform with very primitive editing features. I have it on my Windows 10 pc, and I think it plays nice with MAC.Skill: Intermediate

Got to remember.. the Aurora series were kind of a strange breed in the Bernina line of embroidery combo machines. Their embroidery was beautiful but the machines required EC on PC . REQUIRED!!! They need a software platform that can 'write to the machine'! ARTlink does that!Skill: Intermediate

thanks everyone! So if I'm willing to pay/upgrade is there anything mac compatible?
And what are the options if I want to be able to design patterns? That's a WHOLE new world..

To upgrade on the Aurora? No matter what software you upgrade to..Aurora must have EC on PC platform.. I switched to Embrilliance Essentials software, open and edit a design maybe add letters or remove some stitch density then when satisfied with my tinkering I 'save' to my files. Then open ARTlink 7, find the file I just saved and send it to my machine.Skill: Intermediate
Many of the software suites can use MAC. Embrilliance has digitizing suites. I do not know if the new Bernina software still has EC on PC built with-in the platform.. the new machines all have built-in emb capability and don't need EC on PC..so.. I don't think you are going to get away from having to download ARTlink no matter what other software you buy.

No, not unless the design already has letters in it. Artlink8 is a barebones emb platform that reads and writes to the Aurora machines via EConPC..which is the platform the Aurora machines MUST use . ARTLINK8 has very, very little editing features in it. You would need V8 or some other full featured emb software program.Skill: Intermediate

I have embroidered on my Aurora 440 for several years - it keeps chugging along, so I haven't upgraded at all. I've now purchased the v8 Designer so I can create a bit, but it still launches EConPC just fine.
Now that I can work on some small designs and monograms, I want to use my small hoop to do sleeves and knees on my kids' stuff. I cannot get the EConPC to recognize the Small Hoop Adapter. Does anyone know how to do that? I've changed hoops in both Artlink 8 and in Designer 8 and picked Small Hoop and Free Arm Hoop (both 50x72), and neither choice will make the required adjustment.
My dealer helped me find the Bernina support site, and they wrote back and told me that they no longer have any machines to try EConPC with, so I could go to my dealer to see if they could help. UGH. Does anyone else have experience with this?
